Dog Boarding Services in the San Antonio Area

When you board at A Better Dog Training, your dog(s) receive personalized, pet-specific care. We understand that every dog has its own personality, and we strive to meet each one’s particular needs. Our goal is to make their time away from you as stress-free as possible. Your pets receive the same love, attention, and care they would at home, including treats, safe chew bones, and plenty of affection as part of our daily routine. We are happy to accommodate dogs with special needs or challenges, such as age, physical limitations, disabilities, or medications—at no extra charge. We treat your dog(s) like part of our family.

We have three types of accommodations:

  • The first is set in a home environment. Extra-large daytime play runs give dogs the exercise they need, and at night—or during inclement weather—they rest in large, cozy, and safe crates just outside our kitchen window on a climate-controlled enclosed porch. We monitor any sounds they make, so if your dog needs to relieve himself before morning, he is taken outside. Most often, however, we hear nothing but contented snoring throughout the night.
  • The second is literally inside our home. Small dogs and puppies stay indoors with us and have a separate, secure outdoor run away from larger dogs.
  • The third is in an adjacent building with brand-new indoor/outdoor runs. Dogs can move freely between the inside and outside of each run during the day and are safely secured at night.

Inside runs are steam-sanitized in between boarders.

Boarding Fees

Prices are per night. Pets picked up after 6 pm will be charged an additional night. All drop-offs and pick-ups are by appointment only.

  • Inside crates with separate outdoor runs – $30.00 effective 9/1/24
  • Indoor/Outdoor runs (prices are for one dog in one run):
    • 6’x8′ inside attached to 6’x15′ outside – $35.00
    • 8’x6′ inside attached to 8’x15′ outside – $45.00
    • Additional dog in the same run – $10.00
  • Small dogs stay inside our home with a separate 5’x10′ outdoor run – $30.00 effective 9/1/24
  • Multiple-dog families: Full price for the first dog, $5 discount for each additional dog in separate runs

We encourage you to bring your pets’ food to prevent upset stomachs. We also offer Natures Select Premium Lamb & Rice at an additional cost of $2.00 per night if preferred.

Copies of each pet’s current vaccination records are required, including Rabies, DHLLP (Distemper), and Bordetella (Kennel Cough). Your veterinarian may email these records the day before drop-off.

You may bring blankets, toys, and other items, but please clearly mark them with your dog’s name. While we provide kuranda beds in the runs, clean bedding in the crates, nylabones or antler chews indoors, and peanut butter bones as bedtime treats, we cannot guarantee the condition of personal items at the end of your dog’s stay.

We do accept dogs that are not spayed or neutered and take the utmost care to provide proper isolation for safety. However, we are not responsible for impregnation or injury should it occur.
